Allied Powers Propaganda
The U.S made propaganda posters to encourage people to buy bond to support the army.. War Bonds allowed for everyday Americans to invest in the war effort by purchasing bonds that would go up in value over time. People would buy bonds and the government promised to return them with interest after ten years or more. During the war, the government needed all the extra money it could get to help pay for war equipment. War bonds or defense bonds were bought by purchasing stamps for 10 or 15 cents each. The stamps were then pasted into booklets that could be turned in when full for a $25 war bond. War stamps and bonds were not only a way for the government to raise money, but a way for every person to participate in the war effort. It became very patriotic to buy bonds and stamps. Also, there were a lot of posters that encouraged people to join the U.S. army. One of the most famous propaganda posters was the Uncle Sam “I want YOU for the U.S. Army”. This poster was originally created for the War of 1812 but it was adjusted for WWII. These were made because the Allied powers could use as many people fighting as they could get.
Another type of propaganda was when the Allied Powers made posters to show people that the Allied Powers were strong and they would work hard to defeat the Axis Powers and the Nazis.
