Axis Powers propaganda
To the left you can see a picture of children reading an anti-Jewish book. This is just one of many ways that the Axis Powers spread propaganda across countries. Following the Nazi explosions of power in 1933, Hitler established a Reich Ministry of Public Enlightenment and Propaganda that was led by Joseph Goebbels. The Ministry's goal was to ensure that the Nazi message was successfully communicated through art, music, theater, films, books, radio, educational materials, and the press. There were several audiences for Nazi propaganda. Germans were reminded of the struggle against foreign enemies and Jewish subversion. During periods proceeding legislation against Jews, propaganda created a tolerance of violence against Jews, especially in 1935.Also, propaganda encouraged acceptance of the impeding measures against Jews, which had become common as the Nazis took control. After the German invasion of the Soviet Union , propaganda stressed to civilians, soldiers, and police officers what would happen if the Soviets won the war.
